A passion for advancing the art of mosaic in Poland

In 2007, while still a student, I founded the Karwat-Mozaika Artistic Crafts Studio. From the very beginning, I promoted the art of mosaic through both solo and group exhibitions. I also took part in industry events and interior design trade fairs, while building direct relationships with architects and interior designers. Through these efforts, I helped popularize this unique artistic technique in Poland.

In 2009, I co-founded the Association of Polish Mosaic Artists and served as its chairman. The association brought together creators specializing in this rare field of art, and together we worked to develop the community of Polish mosaic artists.

Below, you will find links to various organizations and companies I collaborate with. If you are interested in working together, please get in touch.

Artistic Mosaics and Conservation

Tradition with a modern twist

My extensive experience enables me to take on increasingly demanding projects. In my studio, I create artistic mosaics and carry out the conservation of historical works, restoring the beauty and authentic character of original compositions.

In 2012, I initiated the “Wyspiański at Mogilskie” project in collaboration with the municipal authorities of Kraków. It was the first initiative of its kind in Poland, allowing members of the public to actively participate in the creation of a mosaic in a public space. We repeated the project in 2013 at Kraków’s Rondo Mogilskie. Furthermore, in 2013, I began collaborating with Pam Givens. This led to an invitation to an international exhibition at the Clauiano Art Exhibition Gallery in Italy. The event opened doors for me to make further connections within the international mosaic community.

Heritage Preservation

Significant Conservation Projects

In 2014, I organized another mosaic-making initiative in Kraków, titled “Mehoffer at Mogilskie” (“Mehoffer na Mogilskim”). Across all three editions, nearly 5,000 participants took part, collectively covering over 180 square meters of retaining walls with mosaics. The results of these efforts can be viewed in the EVENTS section.

That same year, I joined the nationwide initiative “Saving Mosaics” (“Ratujemy Mozaiki”). Through this collaboration, we carried out the conservation of over 325 square meters of ceramic mosaic dating back to 1965, located within the interiors of the Kijów Cinema in Kraków.

Furthermore, I collaborated with the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń, where we reconstructed a mosaic by Franciszek Michał based on a 1968 design. These projects underscore the importance I place on the preservation of artistic heritage.

International Achievements

Promoting Artistic Mosaics

In 2015, I won first place in the international competition *Gaziantep Mozaik Yarışması* in Turkey. As the only Polish participant, I hold this achievement in particularly high regard.

In 2018, I partnered with the Poznań International Fair to organize an exhibition and a series of workshops on artistic mosaics during the “Stone” trade fair. Our guest was the Italian artist Giulio Menossi, who also showcased his original works.

In 2019, I served as a speaker at the International Stone Congress in İzmir, Turkey, where I presented my own unique technique for creating mosaics. I have also demonstrated how traditional craftsmanship can evolve within the context of contemporary art.

Exceptional Mosaics

From Kraków to Sites of Special Significance

In 2019, I created a mosaic for the Kraków Spa Pavilion (*Krakowska Pijalnia Zdrojowa*), which can be admired on the building’s façade. A year later, I produced a portrait of Pope John Paul II; this mosaic is installed in one of only two “Papal Windows” in Poland.

In 2021, I completed another large-scale mosaic, depicting Stanisław Wyspiański, for a primary school in Kraków that bears his name. That same year, I also created a religious-themed mosaic for the Church of Divine Mercy in Skopanie.

In 2022, I crafted a mosaic representing Mother Earth for a Research and Development Center in Wierzbica. Each of these projects presented a unique artistic challenge.

Recent Projects

The Evolution of Artistic Mosaics

In 2023, I collaborated with the company ARKAN, co-organizing an exhibition and mosaic workshops during the Warsaw Home trade fair in Nadarzyn. This initiative allowed a broader audience to discover the potential of this technique.

The year 2024 brought further compelling projects. I created a religious mosaic for the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Dębica in Żabno. Additionally, I participated in the fifth international mosaic symposium in Sardinia, where, among an international group of artists, I developed an original composition depicting dancers performing the *Krakowiak*—a traditional Polish folk dance. I also incorporated a distinct Polish touch into it.

In 2025, I created a mosaic for the Mint of Poland (Mennica Polska). It depicts a Polish “Warszawa” car and adorns the façade of a building in the Żerań district. I also produced a mosaic portrait of Pola Negri for the “Art Deco Mokotów” development.

In 2026, my projects included a mosaic for the company MAKBUD. I also completed a design for the “MOZAIKA” building in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

These are just a few examples of my work and artistic endeavors. I invite you to visit the NEWS section, where you will find information about new projects, events, and my ongoing work. Explore my completed projects and discover the diversity of artistic mosaic.
