Artistic Mosaics in the Media

Discover My Work

Welcome to a space dedicated to publications, interviews, and events centered on my creative practice. My name is Lubosz Karwat, and since 2006, I have run my own artistic mosaic studio. I create mosaics using natural stone and various other materials. Additionally, I am involved in the conservation of artworks and the promotion of mosaic techniques.

On this site, you will find resources that offer insight into my work and my artistic approach to stone. They also provide an opportunity to learn about the history of mosaics and their potential for contemporary application.

Interviews and Publications – Explore the World of Mosaics

For years, my work has garnered interest from both the artistic community and the stone industry. I enjoy sharing my knowledge regarding mosaic techniques, materials, and the creative process. In various publications, I discuss the experiences I have gained through my artistic projects and conservation work.

A special place is held by the Florentine technique, which allows for the creation of exceptional compositions using natural stone. Furthermore, it demonstrates how traditional craftsmanship can serve as an inspiration for contemporary artists.

  • “Mosaics Make a Comeback” – an article on the contemporary significance of mosaics.
  • “Stone Truly Has That Something!” – a column on working with stone.

Events, Competitions, and Artistic Achievements

My professional life extends well beyond the confines of my studio. In 2015, I won first place in the international contemporary mosaic competition, Gaziantep Mozaik Yarışması, in Turkey. This was a significant milestone in my artistic journey.

In 2018, I co-organized an exhibition and a series of workshops during the Stone trade fair in Poznań. The event promoted the art of mosaic and its diverse applications. A year later, I presented at the International Stone Congress in İzmir, where I shared my personal approach to mosaic techniques and their contemporary potential.

Other notable projects include a mosaic portrait of Pope John Paul II and a portrait of Stanisław Wyspiański, created for the city of Kraków. Each project tells its own unique story and represents a further stage in the evolution of my craft.
